In late 2017, while I was living in a youth homeless shelter, I suddenly became extremely ill and needed to be on bed rest. However, being unhoused, I don't have the option to be bedridden. My only option for rest was on friend's couches, hence, "couchbound". I started an Instagram account to try to find community and quickly realized the lack of Impoverished, particularly homeless, and more marginalized disabled voices in the community. Most of the "chronic illness influencers" were often not people who were much like me, and I felt more alone.I've been a creative person my whole life, and will create with whatever I can get my hands on, so I started writing specifically about my experiences and being open and honest on my platform about the realities and challenges of being chronically homeless. This project has served as a space for me to explore the nuance within the intersections of my many marginalized identities, and spread awareness and offer solutions to the issues my community and I face.
